Recommendations:
Porcelain Tile placement and maintenance

  1. Before Laying. The installation of this porcelain requires use of a latex modified thinset. The use of an incorrect adhesive can cause loosening of the tiles. Check carefully that all the boxes correspond to the same product, grade, shade and caliper. We cannot accept claims for material already installed, where possible defects ware visible before installation. Boxes should be kept in good conditions to be able to attend to eventual claims.
  2. During Laying. We recommend to mix tiles from several boxes to reproduce the aesthetic effect pursued when designing the product. For easier cleaning the floor and carry out a previous test on a sample.
  3. After Laying. After tile is installed, al residues of cement, adhesive and grout should be removed from the surface. It is advisable to cover the surface of the tiles to protect them until the construction job is finished.
  4. Maintenance. Cleaning of the all ILVA tiles must be carried out by using water and floor detergents. For easier cleaning, all spills should be removed as soon as possible. Allow the detergent act on the soil for a few minutes before cleaning. After removing all detergent, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Waxes or topo finishes are not recommended.
  5. Important. All material of every and any nature (natural stone, marble, granite, wood, metal, rubber, plastic, glazed and non glazed ceramics) present a superficial microporosity. In ILVA porcelain that microporosity is practically null, however polished porcelain in treated with an hydropellent sealer to minimize eventual stainability problems.
  6. Attention. Polished tiles should be installed with a minimum grout joint of 1/12” (2mm) and the other materials, rectified or non rectified, should be installed with a minimum grout joint of 1/8” to 1/4” (3 to 4mm).
